Today's Washington Post carries reports of angry demonstrations in the streets of Lyon. San Jose Mercury News shows a picture of a student arguing with riot police officers.
France's bitterly contested pension reforms have provoked a turmoil that brings the nation to a standstill. Hopefully the unrest peters out soon, but you never know. The unions have reportedly scheduled two major demonstrations on October 28 and Nov. 6, the latter ominously close to the conclusion of World Entrepreneurship Forum. That has got me worried from the perspective of travel back from Lyon.
Will the retirement age raise from 60 to 62 be voted in? That will be up to the French parliament to decide. We'll know soon.
